Origins and History of Jingu Gaien Fireworks Festival

The first event was held at Jingu Stadium on August 1, 1980, to mark the 60th anniversary of the enshrinement of Meiji Jingu.

The inaugural event featured 3,000 fireworks and a 110-meter Niagara-style waterfall of fireworks. It later became an annual event.

The venues and launch sites have changed over time, but the festival continues as a summer fireworks event set at Meiji Jingu Gaien.
