About the photo submission form

When accepting festival photo submissions, we collect the festival concerned, the photos, the photographer name to be published, email address, photo information, a description for each photo, a message, and information about consent to publication. Descriptions for individual photos may be used as alt text or similar when the photos are published. Messages are treated as correspondence for the editorial team and are not made public. We also ask you to confirm that the photos were actually taken and are not AI-generated images. We use this information to review submissions, decide whether to publish them, credit photographers, and contact them as needed. Email addresses are not made public. We send a confirmation email when a submission is received. If a photo is selected, we notify you of all selected photos together at 10:00 a.m. Japan time the following day, using the same email address. Photos are not attached to the email. To manage email delivery, we retain the recipient, photos concerned, scheduled send time, and delivery result for 30 days.

Photos are resized and compressed, image metadata such as location information is removed, and the files are stored in a non-public storage location. We do not store the original high-resolution images. Only photos selected by our editorial team are added to the media library and published on the site. Depending on the scope of use you agreed to when providing the materials, we may use them in Japanese Festivals.jp media, on social media, or in print.

Unselected photos and submission information are deleted automatically once 30 days have passed from receipt. Email addresses for selected photos are kept private indefinitely so that we can contact you about requests for high-resolution images and use in printed materials. Messages are deleted once 30 days have passed from receipt, while photos, photographer names, photo details, and records of consent to publication are retained for listing management. To prevent fraudulent submissions and excessive posting, source connection information is converted into one-way identification data and used to limit the number of submissions over a short period.

For corrections to or removal of submitted photos from publication,Contactplease contact us at

We look forward to receiving your lovely photos!

About the festival information and correction form

The information and correction form collects the festival concerned; the item to be corrected and its current listing; the corrected information; a URL serving as a source or supporting evidence; any name, email address, or message entered voluntarily; and a record of consent. This information is stored on our server and used to review the submission, decide whether to accept it, update published information, and contact you if necessary.

The editorial team will review your submission and, if we adopt a correction, may edit it as needed before updating the festival page. It will not be published automatically as soon as you submit it. Your contact details and message to the editorial team will not be made public. We retain submission details and records of decisions and updates for as long as needed to provide ongoing support and verify published information, and delete information when it is no longer needed.

To prevent fraudulent or duplicate submissions, we apply short-term submission limits using verification identifiers and identifiers generated by one-way transformation of connection-source information. Do not enter personal information unrelated to the correction or information that cannot be made public.

4. Cookies, Saved Lists, and Ranking Statistics

A cookie is a small piece of information that a website stores in your browser. We use cookies to protect forms, maintain login sessions, and for similar purposes.Cookies related to login are mainly used for administrative and posting functions.

The “Festivals I’d Like to Visit” list stores festival identifiers in local storage, separate from cookies. The list is managed within your browser and is not synced with other devices or browsers. As described below, saving items may be used for aggregation, such as rankings. It can be used on the same device and browser, and may remain there until you delete it or the browser deletes the site data.

Press the save button again to remove items individually. You can also delete or reject cookies and site data in your browser settings, but this may prevent features such as saved lists, forms, and logins from working properly.

Yorimichi
The list is saved in this browser, and save actions are also used to calculate recommendations!

Aggregated counts of festival views and save actions

When you view a festival page or save a festival to “Festivals I’d Like to Visit,” we send the festival’s identifier and the type of action to our server and record them along with the processing date and time. Views are used for popularity rankings, and save actions are used to calculate recommendation levels. If a save action cannot be sent, it may be temporarily stored in your browser and sent the next time you visit or when your connection is restored.

To prevent duplicate counting, we use a cookie from this site containing a random identifier. It remains valid for 1 year from issuance. For aggregation data, we store a one-way transformed value of that identifier, and do not store names, email addresses, or IP addresses as aggregation items. How server access logs are handled is described in Sections 2 and 9.

Individual browsing records are deleted through automatic processing after 32 days. Records of save actions and recommendations already added are retained to prevent duplicate additions and for aggregation. Removing a festival from the list in your browser does not automatically delete past aggregation records.
