Held on the Arakawa riverbed in Toda City, the Toda Bridge Fireworks Festival is a summer event featuring displays coordinated with the Itabashi Fireworks Festival on the opposite bank.
About Toda Bridge Fireworks Festival
The Toda Bridge Fireworks Festival is Toda City’s fireworks event, held every August on the Arakawa riverbed.
It began in 1951 to commemorate the completion of a change to the land boundary between Toda Town and Itabashi Ward, Tokyo.
It is now held on the same day as the Itabashi Fireworks Festival on the opposite bank, with fireworks on both sides of the Arakawa lighting up the summer night sky.
Festival highlights
A highlight of the 2026 event is a synchronized display of fireworks launched simultaneously from the Toda and Itabashi sides.
About 7,500 fireworks, including 10-gō shells, are set off; together with the fireworks on the opposite bank, about 15,000 fireworks light up the night sky.
The festival also features music-synchronized displays and paid seating areas with different atmospheres on the east and west sides.

What to expect
Fireworks are set off at the venue for about 1 hour and 30 minutes from 7 p.m.
For 2026, music-synchronized fireworks were planned, featuring original displays conceived by residents in workshops and music selected by vote.
In an audience-participation activity, attendees celebrate the commemorative event using lights from smartphones and other devices.
How to take part
In addition to watching the fireworks, general attendees can take part in an audience-participation program held at the 2026 commemorative event.
Participants use lights on smartphones and similar devices to enliven the venue in response to the MC’s directions.
There was also a project involving local residents in creating the show, but the workshop was held in January 2026.
In 2026, all seating within the venue was paid, with tickets sold through both local and general sales.
General sales were held on the eplus website from June 15, and local sales were held at shops in the city from June 11.
Wheelchair-accessible seating was offered by application to residents of the city, with an application deadline of July 10.
