Origins and History of Ōoka Echizen Festival

The Ōoka Echizen Festival began with a memorial service the following year at the grave of Ōoka Tadasuke, who was posthumously awarded the Junior Fourth Rank in 1912.

It was later suspended due to events including the Great Kantō Earthquake and war, but resumed in 1956 under the name Ōoka Echizen Festival.

Today, Tadasuke’s achievements are honored through events such as the memorial service at the grave at Jōkenji Temple and the Echizen Procession.
