The Koga Peach Festival is a spring event for viewing flowering peach trees at Koga Kubo Park (Koga General Park).
The park is planted with about 1,800 trees of 6 varieties of flowering peach, each with its own flower colors, shapes, and best viewing period.
This seasonal event is a local highlight in Koga, known for its peach blossoms, and offers views of the peach grove and the park’s natural surroundings.
Festival highlights
The main attraction is the 6 varieties of flowering peach trees spread throughout the peach grove.
Yaguchi makes up about 80% of the trees in the park, while Genpei trees produce red and white blossoms on a single tree.
Hot-air balloon rides, stage events, and other activities are held during the festival. In 2026, evening events illuminating the flowering peach trees—including handheld fireworks, launched fireworks, and lantern activities—were also announced.

Origins and History of Koga Peach Festival
The origin of Koga’s peaches is said to date back to the early Edo period, when Toshikatsu Doi, lord of the Koga domain, gathered peach seeds in Edo, sent them to Koga, and had them cultivated there.
It is said that peaches were chosen because they grow quickly and their fruit can also serve as food in an area where firewood for fuel was scarce.
The flowering peach trees seen today were planted for viewing when Koga General Park opened in 1975, reviving the peach grove.
