Morning-glory vendors and street stalls line the grounds, where visitors can choose potted morning glories and experience the seasonal atmosphere that has continued since the Edo period.
Rooted in the Iriya and Shitaya communities, the event has been passed down as a local tradition that residents revived after the war through the efforts of local volunteers.
A fair featuring local products, organized by the municipality and local businesses, is also held at an adjacent plaza.
