It began in 1952, and events are scheduled not only in summer but also in spring, autumn, and winter.
Atami Bay is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and the sound of fireworks launched over the water reverberates, letting visitors enjoy the spectacle and sound together.
It has become a major local event, carrying on the legacy of Atami’s recovery and the efforts of its citizens.
Festival highlights
The highlight is the “Great Aerial Niagara,” which brings each event to a close.
Rather than set-piece fireworks, starmines launched across the entire venue fill the night sky with silver light and illuminate the surrounding area.
Because the sound reverberates in Atami Bay, visitors near the shore can also feel the power of the fireworks through sound and vibrations.
The fireworks reflected on the water, as well as in the night sky, are a special feature of this event over the sea.

What to expect
Visitors watch the fireworks from coastal viewing areas such as Atami Sun Beach and Shinsui Park.

The usual launch time is from 8:20 p.m. to 8:40 p.m., and in July and August it is from 8:15 p.m. to 8:40 p.m.
