Festival highlights

One highlight is how local food and stage performances are featured at the same festival.

In addition to performances by the Tamamatsu Taiko Preservation Society and the Ōkawadai Arauma Preservation Society, children from Yomogita Nursery School are also scheduled to perform Japanese drumming.

Alongside food stalls and exhibits, the program includes different events at different times, such as a public senryu judging session and a grand prize drawing.

What to expect

According to the 2026 program, the event begins at 10 a.m. with an opening and an address by the village mayor, followed by Japanese drumming by nursery school children and performances by the Tamamatsu Taiko Preservation Society and the Ōkawadai Arauma Preservation Society.

At 11:30 a.m., Yomogita Junior High School will present a history of its 80 years since opening. At 1 p.m., there will be a public senryu judging session, followed by a special mini-live performance by Mensore Kawabata and a grand prize drawing from 1:45 p.m.

The event is scheduled to close at 2:30 p.m.

How to take part

For the 2026 public senryu judging session, pick up an entry form at the general information desk in the venue on the day, fill it out, and submit it to the same desk.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 haiku.

For the grand prize drawing, a drawing number is printed on the event flyer distributed at the venue; keep the flyer until the drawing.
