Because of its connection to Lady Odai, the cherry-blossom walking path along the Myotokuji River was named “Odai no Michi.”
The festival features a historical procession, stage events, and exhibitions at Odai no Michi and Odai Park.
It brings together the town’s history and culture with the spring scenery.

Festival highlights
The main highlight is the Odai procession, in which Princess Odai and warriors in armor make their way along a road lined with blooming double-flowering cherry trees.
In 2026, Princess Odai and warriors in armor were scheduled to parade along Odai no Michi for about 60 minutes.
Odai Park also hosts stage events, a local product exhibition, and demonstrations of matchlock firearms, offering historical and cultural events distinct from the procession.
Illuminations featuring bamboo lanterns and andon lanterns are also planned for the evening.

Origins and History of Odai Festival
The Odai Festival began based on ideas submitted by residents throughout the town, following the 1989 fiscal-year Hometown Creation One Hundred Million Yen Project.
Plans were made for a spring festival themed around history and culture and for a cherry-blossom walking path along the Myotokuji River. In 1994, the 1st “Higashiura Odai Festival” was held.
It was later renamed the “Odai Festival,” as it is known today, and events are held at various venues, centered on the Odai procession.
