Origins and History of Nishinippon Ohori Fireworks Festival

The Nishinippon Ohori Fireworks Festival began in 1949 to honor the war dead and support postwar recovery.

It continued in subsequent years, except in 1988, when Ohori Park underwent renovation work. However, concerns about ensuring safety as audiences grew led to the festival ending after its 2018 edition.
