An autumn festival at the north exit of Fuji Station, where carved floats are pulled along Fuji Honcho-dori and Kinoe-ne Bayashi is performed.2026年は甲子神社創建100周年の節目にあたり、10月17日・18日に開催される予定として案内されていました。

About Kinoe-ne Autumn Festival

Kinoe-ne Autumn Festival is an autumn festival held mainly on Fuji Honcho-dori.

The festival carries on the traditions of Kinoe Shrine, revered as the guardian shrine of the Fuji Station-area shopping district, and takes place to coincide with the Kannamesai, a harvest festival praying for abundant grain.

Through dashi float processions, dancing, and Kinoe-ne Bayashi, visitors can experience the local culture of Fuji Honcho.

The festival began in a new format in 2015, carrying local traditions into the present.

Festival highlights

Highlights include dashi float processions joined by nearby neighborhoods and drum contests.

The dashi floats are carved with figures such as a dragon god and Urashima Taro, and visitors can enjoy watching them make their way along the festival street.

Kinoe-ne Bayashi is performed with large drums, shime-daiko drums, flutes, and gongs. Performances in a range of styles include “Kagomaru,” “ Bayashi,” “Baka Bayashi,” and “Godan-gaeshi.”

Dashi floats and performers fill Fuji Honcho-dori, which is closed to vehicle traffic.

Origins and History of Kinoe-ne Autumn Festival

Kinoe Shrine was established in 1926 after Okuninush no Mikoto was enshrined there from Izumo Taisha in 1924. This came in response to calls for a guardian deity for the station-area shopping district, which had developed after Fuji Station opened.

This led to the construction of full-scale dashi floats, and Honcho and Nakacho began working together to hold the festival.

After being suspended during the war, the festival was revived in 1951 with newly built dashi floats. In 1972, a preservation society was established to pass on Kinoe-ne Bayashi.

Kinoe-ne Autumn Festival began in 2015 and carries on local traditions.
