Origins and History of Kappabashi Dogu Festival
Kappabashi Dogu Street is said to have originated in the early Taisho period, when antique dealers set up shop on both banks of the Shinbori River, which then flowed through the present-day shopping street.
Even after the river was filled in following the Great Kanto Earthquake, specialty shops related to food continued to gather here.
Today, it is known as a shopping street of about 170 stores selling professional-grade cooking utensils, commercial kitchen equipment, tableware, packaging materials, chef uniforms, and more.
