Festival highlights

The highlight is the YOSAKOI performances presented by each team.

Large flags and costumes reflecting each team’s distinctive style bring the stage to life.

Performances take place in both stage and parade formats, and some teams dance while moving between multiple venues.

At night, locally made neputa parade along the street in front of the station, creating an atmosphere distinct from the dancing.

Origins and History of YOSAKOI & Neputa in Toyosato

The festival began in 1988, when the youth division of the chamber of commerce planned an event inspired by Hirosaki Neputa.

Initially, neputa paraded along Nakamachi Shopping Street. In 2000, the venue moved to the street in front of the station, and the event was held as a collaboration with YOSAKOI.

The name has since changed along with the festival’s format, which evolved into its current combination of YOSAKOI and neputa.
