The Toyohashi Gion Festival is a celebration of hand-held fireworks, aerial fireworks, and a traditional procession, handed down as the festival of Yoshida Shrine. Set at locations including the grounds of Yoshida Shrine and the banks of the Toyokawa River, it brings color to summer in Toyohashi.

About Toyohashi Gion Festival

The Toyohashi Gion Festival is a festival tradition centered on Yoshida Shrine in Sekiya-cho, Toyohashi City.

The procession is the main event, with handheld and launched fireworks and traditional processions taking place over several days.

Known as the “Sanshu Yoshida Fireworks Festival,” a tradition dating back to the Edo period, this summer event brings together Yoshida Shrine’s festival rites and the local fireworks culture.

In 2026, it was designated an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Toyohashi City.
