About Teiyu Bon Odori
Teiyu Bon Odori is a traditional Bon Odori in Yasu Town, Konan City.
Passed down through oral tradition for about 400 years, the dances have been preserved without adding modern styles.
The 4 dances known as “Koppa,” “Kurosu,” “Miai,” and “Hanatori” have been passed down, and the event has also been designated a Kochi Prefecture Protected Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
This event offers a chance to experience, through dance, a culture that the local community has carefully passed down.

Festival highlights
The highlight is the 4 types of Bon Odori that retain their traditional forms.
The graceful movements and distinctive footwork are said to be difficult to master without having danced from a young age. Experienced dancers and children perform together.
In addition to the dances, floating lanterns and fireworks are featured, with underwater fireworks—rare in Kochi Prefecture—bringing color to the seaside event.
