Festival highlights

The main attraction in 2026 was a display of about 5,000 fireworks over the water, with the Seto Ohashi Bridge as a backdrop.

The fireworks were presented in 5 parts, combining music and laser beams, and included shaped fireworks, the traditional Japanese chrysanthemum and peony fireworks, and traditional Japanese-style fireworks.

The finale featured 20 large shells fired in rapid succession, crown fireworks, and a large aerial Niagara cascade spanning about 250 meters.

What to expect

In previous years, the festival featured a pre-festival event, a Seto Ohashi Bridge parade, open-entry dance groups, a grand dance, taikodai performances, and a fireworks display over the water, held in sequence.

Highlights included the grand dance, in which local residents took part, and the performances where taikodai were lifted high all at once.

In 2026, the format changed to a one-day event where visitors could watch fireworks over the water at night around Sakaide Port.

How to take part

In 2026, the grand dance and taikodai float competition were suspended, and no events inviting members of the public to take part as performers were listed.

Visitors can enjoy the fireworks from the official viewing areas around Sakaide Port.

Paid viewing seats were also available, and the Central Wharf and West Quay venues were listed as official viewing areas.

Tickets for paid viewing seats were purchased online.

Pair seats include 2 chairs and cost 6,000 yen; table seats include 1 table and 4 chairs and cost 20,000 yen.

The 2026 paid viewing seats were reported as sold out. Children aged 3 and under could enter free only when watching from an adult’s lap.
