About Oishida Festival Mogami River Fireworks Display

Festival highlights

One highlight is how close the viewing spots are to the launch site, making the fireworks feel close at hand.

The varied displays include commemorative fireworks, starmines, and creative fireworks combining music and fireworks.

Toward the finale, large 20-gō fireworks are launched, including some that spread to more than 450 meters in diameter when they bloom.

The mikoshi’s vigorous movement is another of the festival’s attractions, alongside the fireworks.

What to expect

On festival day, young adults who have come of age carry the coming-of-age mikoshi, and mikoshi groups take part in a procession. The fireworks display follows or takes place alongside these events.

At the venue, visitors watch commemorative fireworks, starmines, creative fireworks, and other displays from viewing spots along the Mogami River.

In 2026, the fireworks were scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., and around 3,000 fireworks lit up the night sky.

Visitors using viewing seats watch the fireworks from their assigned seats.

How to take part

General visitors can watch the fireworks from the viewing area along the Mogami River.

Paid viewing seats were available in 2026, and visitors were also offered the option of purchasing a table-and-chair seat or a pair seat.

The event information does not state whether general visitors can participate as bearers of the adult mikoshi or in the mikoshi procession.

If you only wish to watch the fireworks, you can visit the viewing area along the Mogami River.

If using paid viewing seats in 2026, purchase either a table-and-chair seat or a pair seat.

Sales began at 10 a.m. on July 1, with purchases available through the designated application website or at Lawson.

Seat locations cannot be selected, and purchasers were issued 1 parking pass for the dedicated parking lot.
