Photo source ·Origins and History of Nagayama Tonden Festival
The Nagayama Tonden Festival began in response to rapid development in the Nagayama district, which made it difficult for residents to interact with one another.
As traditional agricultural and summer festivals were scaled back, a citizens’ committee, agricultural organizations, and commercial organizations established a festival created by local residents.
It originated in Showa 62 and is now a major event in the Nagayama district, featuring dashi processions, taiko, and Bon Odori.
