Origins and History of Fukuyama Rose Festival
The Fukuyama Rose Festival began when Fukuyama residents planted about 1,000 rose seedlings in 1956, hoping to bring life back to a city devastated by war.
In May of the same year, the Fukuyama Rose Society held a rose exhibition, and development of Rose Park followed.
The first Fukuyama Rose Festival was held in 1968, and community-building through roses continues to this day.
