Origins and History of Okayama Momotaro Festival

The present-day Okayama Momotaro Festival began in 2001 with the merger of three festivals: Okayama Momotaro Festival, Natsu Matsuri Okayama, and Uraja.

When the festivals were first combined, both Momotaro Odori and Uraja were held. As the number of participating dance groups grew, the program was consolidated into Uraja in 2007.

The autumn Okayama Momotaro Festival also began that year, broadening the festival’s program.
