From the 2nd event in 1978, it was held in August, and the venue moved after Kasuga Park opened.

From the 3rd event in 1979, it was held in a dual format, with separate district and central events. In 2011, its name was changed to Kasuga Nuko Andon Festival, and the fireworks display was discontinued.
