Origins and History of Kariya Wansaka Festival

The Kariya Wansaka Festival was first held in 1990 (Heisei 2) at Kariya Station South Sports Plaza.

It began as an event to celebrate the Kariya Junior Chamber’s 30th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of Kariya City, and its name was chosen through a public contest.

After the decision was made to continue holding the festival, Kariya City General Sports Park opened in 1994 (Heisei 6), and the festival venue moved there.

The fireworks display traces its roots to Kariya Citizens’ Summer Evening Gathering.
