Festival highlights

One of the highlights is that several hometown associations each make their own regional mochi and introduce the food culture of their area.

At the 2011 festival, 14 hometown associations took part, showcasing items such as kibimochi from Miyazaki and nettabo mochi from Kagoshima.

Ozoni from the Chitose Kenjinkai was also served, making it an event where visitors could enjoy mochi pounding and regional cuisine together.

What to expect

Available information confirms that each hometown association made regional mochi using glutinous rice and served it to attendees.

In 2011, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s 11th Infantry Regiment deployed field kitchens and cooked approximately 150 kilograms of glutinous rice.

This event offers a chance to experience local flavors through mochi and ozoni from different regions, not just watch mochi being pounded.
