Ushiku Kappa Festival is inspired by the kappa legends of Lake Ushiku. The dance parade along Hanamizuki Street, mikoshi, stage events, and other festivities bring summer to life in Ushiku.

About Ushiku Kappa Festival

Ushiku Kappa Festival is a summer festival held in Ushiku City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

The word “kappa” is in the festival’s name because of the kappa folktales associated with Lake Ushiku and the artist Ogawa Usen, who left behind many kappa paintings.

The dance parade, stage events, mikoshi, and more offer a chance to experience local Ushiku culture.
