About Hisai Fireworks Festival

The Hisai Fireworks Festival is an annual fireworks event held in the Hisai area of Tsu City, Mie Prefecture.

It began in Showa 36 alongside a folk dance competition and has long been a beloved event in the heart of Hisai.

One of its defining features is that fireworks are launched close to the viewing area at the JGSDF Hisai Camp grounds.

In 2019, it was renamed from its former name, “Summer Festa in Hisai,” to its current name.

Festival highlights

The highlight is the immersive experience of fireworks bursting overhead, close to both the launch site and the viewing area.

The fireworks are also choreographed to music, letting you enjoy light and sound together.

The finale, which moves from a 200-meter aerial Niagara to the Kin Dai Falls display, is another signature feature of this event.

More than 4,000 fireworks were planned for 2026.
